Crit Training is on again almost every Thursday Night in 2025 with approximately 45 sessions for the year.
Crit Training is on smooth closed racetracks, in graded groups, good fun, great workout. Socialise with other participants at One Mile Brewery in Winnellie post training, hydration is key.
Come on down to Hidden Valley each Thursday night for criterium training. We utilize 2 venues, Hidden Valley Raceway, and the Go-Kart Track.
Entry to criterium training in 2025 will be free, but participants MUST have a AusCycling membership. A $129 lifestyle basic membership gives you access to criterium training and allows entry to the time trials. A $360 Race All Discipline membership additionally allows enter to ALL Darwin Cycling Club races. To checkout the full range of membership options go to: https://auscycling.org.au/become-a-member
Gates open 5:30 pm Thursdays for a 6 pm sharp start. See map here for details on Hidden Valley main track access. Our agreement with the Hidden Valley Management is that we are off-site by 7 pm, so please ensure that you make a quick departure once training ceases.
The training is several laps around the race circuit (2.87 km laps), sometimes 6 -10 laps in one go (depending on your grade) but often a combination of a smaller number of laps. It can be intense, but you can ride at your own speed on a really smooth race track. Each grade will decide the number of laps before the training commences.
Because of the need to manage risk to the Club, from time to time audits will be conducted of participants attending Crit Training to verify an appropriate AusCycling membership and financial status.
Note, when the main track is unavailable due to motorsport events being given precedence (V8's, MotoGP, etc), crit training will be held at the nearby Go-Kart track. Calendar to be updated shortly.
Wet Weather Policy
Only very wet weather will prevent crit from proceeding. We will post on our Facebook page by 4.30pm(ish) if it's not going ahead. If it's looking in doubt we'll still post to confirm one way or another. No post = going ahead. We will also leave a sign on the gates when we cancel the training due to bad weather just in case the gates are already open for some other purpose. Please do not enter the venue when this occurs.
